EDT (e–Delivery Team)

EDT overview

EDT is responsible for the Government Gateway, a mission critical ICT application for online government services. It is also building an intelligent client function on ICT, specifically for cross government electronic services that can adapt or adopt Government Gateway functionality. EDT is secretariat to the cross government public infrastructure board which reports to the Chief Technology Officer's Council. EDT's work supports the Transformation Government activities.

EDT's mission is to make best practice common practice in delivering technology services to transform Government.

Government Gateway

EDT is taking forward the Government Gateway which provides identity and claims verification, authentication, transaction routing and reliable messaging between citizen and business to government departments, agencies and local authorities.

• EDT is responsible for the Government Gateway which provides infrastructure for online transactional services such as self–assessment and mulitple payments services involving local authorities.
• Governance model is through the Government Gateway Board and involves Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, Department of Work and Pensions, and Communities and Local Authorities.
• Extensive relationships with major public sector organisations involved in delivery of transactional services online to the citizen and/or business.
• Extensive partnering model with the private sector–small and large organisations.
• Employs approximately 30 people.
• Headquarters are in Birchwood, Warrington and an office in Whitehall, London
